Pieter Bruggeman. We are in 1884 and this name will be the beginning of the long story of the brand Peterman. A story that is rooted in the quest for a unique flavour, that of the finest genever. The original Peterman’s genever recipe will remain unaltered throughout the decades – today, Peterman is the most preferred genever brand and stands in the top 5 of most consumed alcoholic liquors in Belgium. Over the next generations, Peterman’s genever will enrich itself with several varieties and this to the pleasure of all connoisseurs.
It all starts with the production of a pure, high-quality and absolute genever: Peterman Grain 30°.
A new flavour that, at that time, arouses a lively interest fairly quick.
The popularity of Peterman Grain grows and the design of the label is revised to align it with today’s taste.
For the very first time, the Peterman distillery introduces a variation of its renowned genever: a Lemon genever. The quality of Peterman’s genever is more and more confirmed during several Belgian folkloric manifestations.
Currently, Peterman’s genever is widely known and recognized by connoisseurs of fine spirits. It’s also in this year that the bottle gets a new look and the old bottle is replaced with the shape we know up till now.
1991 TO 1996
Society’s changing and the Belgians open themselves for new tasting experiences as the Peterman house launches a whole new variety of fruit genevers: Apple, Blackcurrant, Peach, Passion Fruit, Cherry & Pear. Success awaits once more.
A new range of genevers enters the market: Peterman Cream. Vanilla, Mocha, Caramel, Limoncello, 4 creamy recipes that become part of the renowned Peterman’s genever.
In addition, a new fruity flavour is added to the Peterman range: the famous Violet genever.
After an important period of refinement, the Peterman master-distillers launch the production of the Platinum genever: a noble and subtle distillate for which a special bottle is being created.
From now on, Peterman’s fruit genevers are bottled in a new bottle. And it’s also in 2008 that Peterman’s genever enriches itself with a new production: Peterman Mint, Pomegranate and Agrum.
Connoisseurs are again spoiled with the production of Peterman Cuberdon, Intense Chocolate and Strawberry.
But the most surprising innovation is the launch of Peterman Gento: the first mojito based on genever… a trendy classic.
Later that year the famous Peterman Grain undergoes rejuvenation with a brand new label.
Two new varieties of Peterman genever are born: Peterman Black Exotic, with a base of exotic fruits, and Peterman Green Cactus, with the freshness of cactus and the traditional character of Peterman’s genever.
2011 is also the year in which Peterman’s genever celebrates its 90th birthday. Especially for this occasion a ‘Limited Edition’ bottle is created in cooperation with the Belgian rock group Arid… An unmistakeable sign of everlasting modernity.
To stay up-to-date with the latest trends, the Peterman brand is present on the social networks such as Facebook. That way the brand is in constant interaction with all genever connoisseurs. Who knows how this will inspire the master-distillers?
Constantly innovating and ahead of the curve, Peterman launches two limited-edition and exclusive flavours in the Spring/Summer of 2013 : Chewing Gum and Spicy Lips. Both new flavours are available for purchase in 70 cl bottles.
To satisfy you even more, Peterman gives its famous bottle pure Grain genever a facelift. A new look & feel that goes perfectly with the new mix Peterman Tonic!
That same year, a whole new mix is brought to life: the perfect combination of Pure Grain Peterman and tonic's bitterness - all in one can!
A year after updating Peterman's Pure Grain bottle, it's Peterman's Fruity mixes that undergo an exciting makeover. The new bottles boldly boast the originality of a multitude of flavours and tastes combined with the strong taste of Peterman's genever.
Peterman wants to be part of your long, summer evenings with its new, limited-edition flavour that's bound to awaken passions: Peterman's Black Cherry Pepper. The colour of Black Cherry counters the genever's fire. A serendipitous union for a rare moment of pleasure!
Just for the European Football Championship, Peterman donned three of its limited edition bottles and a Peterman grain bottle a new outfit which carried the colours of the Belgium flag. An excellent opportunity to stress Peterman’s Belgian Spirit.
Peter is the new Peterman ambassador. Being the likeable, bilingual and trendy party animal that he is, he’s the perfect face for the new “As-tu Peter gezien?” campaign. This campaign will have the Peterman beverages shine bright in all pubs and cafés, on all social events and on every social network site.
Specifically for this campaign, Peterman dressed up three bottles in a new, limited edition outfit: Bright Berries, Vivid violet and Conic Cuberdon. These bottles are the first in Belgium to carry a Shazam code which grants access to the Peterman universe via the “As-tu Peter gezien?”campaign platform.
A new fruity flavour is added to the Peterman range: Peterman Like Lime.
